FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome all Ross’ and supporters of Scotland,

As we begin a new year, we tend to reflect on our past and look to the future for all that it holds. I would like to start by express my appreciation for the continued support of Clan Ross and the association. In doing so, I would like to review our association Mission Statement with you and discuss some further ways of getting more involved. This provides us with a renewed base to set our goals for the New Year.

To promote and foster the spirit of Clan Ross, to provide a focal point and means of expressing Ross sentiment, and to aid members in establishing and maintaining contact with each other ( and with other of Scottish heritage). Encouraging, promoting, and supporting the preservation of Scottish and Ross history, traditions, and cultural activities.

Our Mission Statement embodies our feelings and purpose which is grounded in who we are and how others perceive us. Clan Ross association is more than an ethnic related group, it is a means for like-minded people to share life experiences and foster new relationships, while enjoying the rich Scottish history and traditions. Many of us seek a deeper understanding related to our Scottish roots and yet others are satisfied with the familiar companionships we share at our many group gatherings. Whatever the reason, we continue to reach for the closer connection and understanding. I believe that through organizations such as ours, we can provide the bridge which allows for the continued growth and positive connection adding a greater value in our lives.

So, how do we get more involved. Some great ways are listed below:

o Host a clan tent at your local highland games

o Join your local St. Andrew’s Society representing ROSS

o Plan a trip to Scotland, see your family roots

o Wear the ROSS colors (apparel)

o Host a ROSS dinner/outing/reunion/pub night

o Research your ROSS ancestry

o Learn/take part in a Scottish tradition (dance, band, athletic, history) representing ROSS

o Write / submit an article for the Clan Ross newsletter/website

o Help market/recruit ROSS association

o Join the association board

o Host management of the newsletter

o Assist with calendar events management, submit event information

o Become a ROSS subject point of contact (dance, band, athletic, history, charity, events, recruiting/membership, marketing, forum, charity/projects)

Remember you don’t have to do it alone, there are competent and experienced members available to assist you find your way. We also welcome your feedback and ideas. This is our time to make a difference, it’s your move.

WE ARE GROWING BY LEAPS and BOUNDS!

There are no fees to join Clan Ross of the United States, INC. at this time. Expenses are being underwritten by a few donors, Peter Ross and family, Barbra "Ross" Bartz and family, Bert Ross and family, Lawrence Ross, and Linda Watson-Ross and everyone who sets up a Highland Games tent. Expenses are low at this time and we want to make Clan Ross available to all Ross' who want to participate.

Please add your name to our email list at TheClanRoss.com to receive all the benefits of being a member of Clan Ross of the United States, Inc. Life-time members of Clan Ross of the United States will always have permanent membership.

Costs incurred by Clan Ross of the United States:

registration fee in Florida for a corporation in good standing,
bank account at Regions Bank,
advertisement in the Scottish Banner,
the website and the ISP,
our support and membership in COSCA: Council of Scottish Clans & Associations and we just renewed our 2019 membership.
the newsletter is electronic which does not have a monetary cost.
